Photo No 2 of ...`They Fell in the Battle` A Roll of Honour of The Battle of Britain 10 July - 30 October 1940 produced by the Royal Air Force Museum published in 1980…Mint Condition…...The Forward is written and signed by His Royal Highness The Prince Phillip Duke of Edinburgh KG KT OM GBE…This Roll of Honour commemorates the 435 pilots and 63 crew members of the Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm who lost their lives while engaged in operational flying duties controlled by Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain…The Roll has been compiled by Group Captain Tom Gleave C.B.E , the historian of the Battle of Britain Fighter Association , and Squadron Leader F.E. Dymond , resident historian of the Royal Air Force Museum , and includes research completed to 1st January 1980…This present edition of only eighty copies is issued and signed to Honour the Battle's 40th Anniversary…..Leather-bound, hand-cut velum pages throughout, embossed with gold leaf…There are 12 unnumbered pages and 50 numbered pages listing the 435 Pilots and 63 Aircrew who sadly lost their lives in Alphabetical order…Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few…Winston Churchill…The idea for this edition came from Dr John Tanner C.B.E Founding-Director of the Royal Air Force Museums who gave editorial guidance throughout…There are only 80 copies for distribution designed and printed by Will Carter at the Rampant Lions Press , Cambridge on Arches Velin mould-made paper… The binding is by W.T.Morrell of Covent Garden , in specially dyed goatskin with spine lettering designed by the printer…Production has been supervised throughout by Nottingham Court Press…. This copy is number 38….One copy of this Battle of Britain Roll of Honour is displayed in a glass case in Bentley Priory, by the stained glass windows , there is another one in Biggin Hill chapel , and one at Cranwell and Hendon museum…This is an extremely rare book of only 80 published and signed worldwide and is a fitting Tribute to the Few who sadly didn't survive the Battle of Britain , it is in Excellent Mint Condition and comes in a lovely presentation slipcase , it also comes in its original cardboard packing box…It is 100% Authentic and is guaranteed…priced @ £1995.00
