Description

During a concerted effort to prevent the advance of British and American forces in North Africa, elements of the 10th Panzer Division Army Group 'Afrika1 counter-attack through a rock-strewn, sun-parched valley in northern Tunisia in spring 1943. Overhead, air support is provided by the Ju87Ds of St.G3 and the formidable Fwl90A fighters of II./JG2., units which had been drafted in from Europe as specialists in ground attack and dogfighting. The Panzer III and IV tanks portrayed in this picture, though small compared with later German tanks, were the workhorses of the German Panzer Division and in Africa played a vital role in the cut-and-thrust armoured battles of 1941 and 1942. The 75mm long-barrelled Panzer IV, called the 'Special1 by the Allies, was particularly feared as it was capable of destroying any Allied tank at range. Although ultimately defeated, the exploits of The Afrika Korps in the desert, especially under the command of Field Marshal Rommel, earned widespread respect and taught valuable lessons to the Allies for subsequent combat in mainland Europe...The Rommel and Marseille Tribute Edition of only 5 copies world wide signed by the same incredible Fourteen Knights Cross Holder's of the Panzer edition plus the matted Original wartime signatures in Ink of The Desert Fox ' Field Marshall Erwin Rommel ' and The Star of Afrika ' Hans-Joachim Marseille '...Some of the signatures on this print are extremely rare and unrepeatable as most were collected between 1988 and 1998...Willi Bachor Knights Cross Tank Ace , Otto Carius Knights Cross with Oakleaves Tank Ace , Gerhard Fischer Knights Cross Tank Ace , Heinz-Gunther Guderian Knights Cross Tank Ace , Gunther Halm Knights Cross Pak-gunner , Hajo Herrmann Knights Cross with Oakleaves and Swords Fighter / Kampfflieger pilot , Albert Kerscher Knights Cross with Oakleaves Tank Ace , Franz Kieslich Knights Cross with Oakleaves Stuka Pilot , Hans Krohn Knights Cross Stuka Pilot , Norbert Kujacinski Knights Cross Tank Ace , Wilhelm Noller Knights Cross Stuka Pilot , Erich Rudorffer Knights Cross with Oakleaves and Swords Fighter pilot , Otto Schultz Knights Cross Fighter pilot and Gunter Seeger Knights Cross Fighter Pilot...Printed in light fast inks on acid free archival paper...priced @ £1495.00 ( Sold out )...The Tribute edition comes with laser copy signatures matted in the mount and the wartime signatures separate in a protective folder...To complement the purchase of your fine art print, we are now able to offer a professional Picture Framing service.
