Rare 1st day cover from Washington USA commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the introduction of the Liberator Mk 3 to Royal Air Force Bomber Operations 14 December 1942...The front has a 20 cent Medal of Honor stamp and is franked Washington Oct 4 1983 20066...It comes with two information cards and a photo print of Lt Gen Ira Eaker USAF ( Ret )...The cover was flown from Dulles International Airport , Virginia to RAF Brize Norton on the 14th October 1983...It is a certified copy bearing the No 0255 of 1520...It is signed by Luftwaffe Legend General Adolf Galland , Knights Cross Oakleaves Swords and Diamonds and LT. GEN. IRA C. EAKER, USAF...This particular cover has just been purchased recently by ourselves from the Great Luftwaffe General Adolf Galland's widow Heidi Galland , it was a gift to the late General for signing the edition of this cover at the time , It is part of a large batch of covers that we have just purchased from the late Generals widow Heidi Galland...priced @ £125.00 for this one off cover that once belonged to the Great General Adolf Galland.
