On Channel Patrol , by Stephen Teasdale...In July 1940, 501 Squadron were based at Gravesend, Kent. Here, Pilot Officer Ken Lee and Pilot Officer Peter Hairs sweep over the water on an early morning patrol after they have been in combat over the south coast, they are forming up to patrol for stragglers. 501 Squadron was the only fighter squadron not to be rested during the Battle of Britain.
