Rare 1st day cover commemorating the 40th ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIBERATION OF PARIS 25th 26th August 1984...Whilst escorting an air technical intelligence team close on the heels of the retreating German army , a flight of 2728 Squadron , Royal Air Force Regiment , became one of the first Allied units to reach and enter Paris in the early hours of 25th August 1944...It has a 3 cent French postage stamp and is franked with the 40th Anniversary stamp...Inside it has an information card...The rear is stamped Royal Air Force Northolt 27 Aug 1984 and Royal Air Force Wildenrath 26th Aug 84...The front is signed by Luftwaffe Legend General Adolf Galland , Knights Cross Oakleaves Swords and Diamonds and Sqn Ldr J. Ledward captain of the aircraft that flew the cover from RAF Northolt to RAF Wildenrath in Pembroke...This particular cover has just been purchased recently by ourselves from the Great Luftwaffe General Adolf Galland's widow Heidi Galland , it was a gift to the late General for signing the edition of this cover at the time , It is part of a large batch of covers that we have just purchased from the late Generals widow Heidi Galland...priced @ £95.00 for this one off cover that once belonged to the Great General Adolf Galland.
