Rare 1st day cover from Amsterdam Holland commemorating the Lockheed Ventura's start of operational service with the Royal Air Force May 1942 and the daring raid by No 487 Squadron's Sqn Ldr Leonard Trent on the Amsterdam power station 3rd May 1943 earning him the Victoria Cross...A commemorative flight was flown retracing the bombing approach made by Len Trent of No 487 Squadron...It has two postage stamps , a 5 cent Dutch stamp and an 11p Jersey stamp and is double franked...Inside It comes with two information cards and a photo of Sqn Ldr Leonard Trent...The front is signed by Luftwaffe Legend General Adolf Galland , Knights Cross Oakleaves Swords and Diamonds and Sqn Ldr Leonard Trent V.C...It is a certified copy bearing the No 1374 of 1518 and the rear is Stamped Commando Tactishe L.S.K 334 Squadron and Centrale Noord Amsterdam...This particular cover has just been purchased recently by ourselves from the Great Luftwaffe General Adolf Galland's widow Heidi Galland , it was a gift to the late General for signing the edition of this cover at the time , It is part of a large batch of covers that we have just purchased from the late Generals widow Heidi Galland...priced @ £125.00 for this one off cover that once belonged to the Great General Adolf Galland.
