Rare 1st day cover commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the start of World War II and the Honor flight flown RAF Lyneham to Gatow Berlin with members of the 30 Squadron Association who , whilst remembering their participation in the war against Germany , were intent on celebrating the 40th anniversary of the ending of the Berlin Airlift...It has a 22p postage stamp and has been franked with the official 50th anniversary stamp...The rear has been stamped Royal Air Force Lyneham 22 Sep 1989 , Royal Air Force Gatow 22 Sep 1989 and Royal Air Force Wyton 2 Oct 1989...Inside it comes complete with it's information card...The front of the cover has been signed by Luftwaffe Legend General Adolf Galland , Knights Cross Oakleaves Swords and Diamonds , and Captain of the return flight from Gatow Flight Lieutenant H.D. Roberts B.Sc. AGGI RAF...This particular cover has just been purchased recently by ourselves from the Great Luftwaffe General Adolf Galland's widow Heidi Galland...It was a gift to the late General for signing the edition of this cover at the time , It is part of a large batch of covers that we have just purchased from the late Generals widow Heidi Galland...priced @ £95.00 for this one off cover that once belonged to the Great General Adolf Galland.
